Spring
VIDALIA ONION FESTIVAL
How many raw onions could you eat in three minutes? Find out at the onion-eating competition during Vidalia's multiday April celebration of the sweet, crisp vegetable. Sink your teeth into a variety of dishes featuring the famous crop (including fried onion rings, of course) during the Saturday recipe contest, and enjoy plenty of entertainment, including a Blue Angels air.
Summer
GEORGIA PEACH FESTIVAL
Byron and Fort Valley. Partake in the world's largest peach cobbler, made with a whopping 75 gallons of juicy, farm-fresh peaches. Fill a bag of fuzzy fruit for just $5, get your fill of peachy treats from local vendors, and meet the Georgia Peach Queens at a jubilant kick-off.
Fall
JEKYLL ISLAND SHRIMP & GRITS FESTIVAL
The island's natural beauty is on full display during this award-winning fall event in the National Landmark Historic District. Savor all sorts of shrimp samples as you stroll the carefully curated artists market, but save your appetite for the many varieties of shrimp and grits dishes from chefs and restaurants around the state.
Winter
FIRE AND ICE CHILI COOK OFF AND CRAFT BEER FESTIVAL
Elements of flame and frost come together in Blue Ridge at this one-of-a-kind February festival. Keep warm with chili samples from local chefs as you wander the wintry downtown wonderland of ice sculptures. Witness fire dancers and ice-carving demonstrations over a crisp craft beer, and once you've had your fill, put in your vote for People's Choice.
